# Brand visibility

> Of the AI answers that name any brand, the share that name yours — per assistant, then averaged.

**Brand visibility is the share of answers that name your brand at least once.** It's the headline number on the dashboard, and the simplest answer to *"do the AI assistants bring us up?"*

## How it's calculated

Both counts cover the same period, and the same assistants if you've filtered to some.

**Example.** Over the last 28 days your prompts collected 200 answers across all assistants. 62 of them named your brand. Your brand visibility is **31%**.

## What it counts, and what it doesn't

* **Answers, not mentions.** An answer that names you three times counts once. For how much of the conversation you take up, see [Share of voice](/metrics/share-of-voice).
* **Any mention counts.** Being recommended and being listed both count as visible. To see *how* you're mentioned, see [Sentiment and stance](/metrics/sentiment-and-stance).
* **Failed responses are left out.** Empty responses and refusals aren't answers, so they're not in either count. See [What counts as an answer](/how-it-works#what-counts-as-an-answer).

## Reading it over time

The dashboard compares each period with the one before it, of the same length — the last 28 days against the 28 days before that.

Day to day, visibility on a few dozen prompts naturally moves by several points, because assistants don't give the same answer every time. Look at the trend over weeks rather than a single day. The daily digest in your notifications only flags a change of **10 points or more against your 7-day average** for this reason.

Visibility follows what the assistants read. The pages they cite for your prompts are on the [Sources](/guides/sources-and-citations) pages — being present, and described well, on those sites is usually what moves this number.
