Share of voice is your brand’s share of all the brand mentions in your answers. Brand visibility asks “are we in the answer?”; share of voice asks “how much of the conversation is ours?”

How it’s calculated

Each brand counts once per answer, however many times the answer repeats it. It’s calculated for each assistant separately, then averaged with every assistant counting equally. Example. ChatGPT’s answers named brands 600 times and yours 60 times: 10%. Gemini’s named brands 200 times and yours 10 times: 5%. Your share of voice is 7.5%.

Every brand, not just your competitors

The denominator includes every brand the answers named — not only the competitors you’ve marked. If the answers keep naming a long tail of small players, each of them takes a share, and the leaders’ shares are smaller as a result. That’s deliberate: it reflects the conversation as it actually is.

Share of voice vs brand visibility

The two usually move together, but not always: A falling share of voice with steady visibility usually means the answers are getting more crowded, not that you’re being named less.

Where to see it

Your share of voice is on the dashboard, and every brand’s share is in the Competitors table, next to its visibility and average position. The dashboard’s headline figure counts every brand you’ve marked as My Brand — your own, plus any sub-brands — so mark yours on the Competitors page. Until you do, it shows 0%.
